Electric vehicle (EV) brand Zeekr is about to launch in Australia, and the Geely-owned brand has released preliminary pricing for its new small SUV.
The Zeekr X in single-motor rear-wheel drive guise will open at under $60,000 before on-road costs, while the dual-motor all-wheel drive model will open at under $70,000 before on-road costs.
Final pricing will be announced closer to the X’s launch in October, but these preliminary details suggest it could undercut the Volvo EX30 crossover with which it shares its Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) underpinnings.
In base RWD guise, the Volvo is priced at $59,990 before on-road costs, while the dual-motor AWD version is priced at $71,290 before on-roads.
It remains to be seen whether Zeekr’s pricing will be higher than that of the also SEA-based Smart #1 and #3 SUVs, which open at $54,900 and $57,900 before on-road costs, respectively.
The X is nearly identical in size to the more affordable BYD Atto 3 at 4432mm long, 1836mm wide, and 1572mm tall, riding a 2750mm wheelbase and offering 190mm of ground clearance.
It will be offered with a choice of 200kW/343Nm single-motor rear-wheel drive or 315kW/543Nm dual-motor all-wheel drive configurations, with a claimed WLTP range of 446km and 425km respectively.
They draw power from a 69kWh lithium-ion battery, which can be charged at up to 150kW on a DC fast-charger.
Inside the cabin, there’s an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 24.3-inch augmented reality head-up display.
Local specifications will likely be detailed alongside pricing.
Zeekr will sell its vehicles through franchised dealerships, ruling out a direct sales model.
It’ll have nine dealerships at launch, through which it will sell the X SUV and 009 people mover.
The large 7X SUV will follow in 2025.
