The Mazda CX-70 may be down two seats on its CX-90 twin, but it carries a base price $1420 higher.
That’s because Mazda Australia is opting to bring the five-seat CX-70 here only in GT and Azami trim levels, while the seven-seat CX-90 has an additional, more affordable Evolve variant.
The CX-70 range opens at $75,970 before on-road costs for the GT G50e which, while being slightly more expensive than the entry-level CX-90 G50e Touring, is $9560 less than the CX-90 G50e GT.
There’s a gap of just under $10,000 between all CX-70 models and their CX-90 counterparts, with the range topping out at $84,970 before on-roads for the CX-70 Azami D50e.

As with the CX-90, there’s an optional SP package on the top-spec Azami, but the more luxury-focused Takumi package isn’t available.
The CX-70 is now on sale across Mazda Australia’s dealership network, with the first customer deliveries beginning later this month.
For those struggling to keep track of Mazda’s sprawling SUV lineup, there are four vehicles on the new Large Architecture.
The two-row CX-60 and three-row CX-80, the latter of which is due here this year, are slightly narrower and aimed at markets like Japan and Europe. The two-row CX-70 and three-row CX-90 are wider and were developed with the North American market in mind.
Australia is unique in getting all four. The CX-70 serves as Mazda Australia’s flagship two-row SUV.
The CX-60 range opens at $60,550 before on-road costs. Comparing petrol-powered GT models across the two ranges, the larger and more powerful CX-70 is $7420 pricier.
