SsangYong Australia is rebranding, and at the same time it’s launching a new, more boldly styled mid-sized SUV.
The company is now called KGM SsangYong Australia, and the new KGM SsangYong Torres is its first new model launch.
It goes on sale in October.

The company is no doubt hoping the Torres will give it the cut through in the mid-sized SUV segment the slow-selling Korando never could.
While it looks dramatically different to the Korando, it’s closely related mechanically and features the same turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
While it’s launching with petrol power, the company has previously confirmed the electric Torres EVX is also coming to Australia during the fourth quarter of 2024.
The Torres was revealed way back in 2022, and SsangYong has previously cited strong demand in Korea as the reason for the delay in the SUV coming here.
With a base drive-away price of $38,000, the cheapest Torres is priced roughly in line with the most expensive Korando.
The Korando ELX is priced at $33,000 drive-away while the Ultimate costs $39,000 drive-away, though these can be had for cheaper if you’re an ABN holder or you buy a model year 2023 vehicle.
