Isuzu Thailand has teased a facelifted version of the MU-X SUV, complete with a sporty-looking RS trim.
It’s unclear, however, when an updated MU-X will arrive in Australia, and how different local-spec models will be from those in the SUV’s Thai homeland.
“We are not in a position to comment on the Isuzu vehicle shown in the teaser video published on the Isuzu Thailand Official YouTube channel,” said an Isuzu Ute Australia spokesperson.
While we have no word on local timing, Isuzu revealed a refreshed D-Max ute in October 2023, with an updated model launching locally in April.
Filipino site Visor stitched frames together from the video, giving us a better look at the MU-X’s refreshed front end.
There’s a new headlight design and a restyled grille and front bumper.
A close-up shows a green-accented RS badge, which sits within a unique black mesh-like grille; the other featured MU-X has a more traditional Isuzu grille, complete with two metallic bars.
The teaser doesn’t show any other angles of the exterior, nor does it show the interior.
The related D-Max received various aesthetic tweaks as part of its update, but it also received some tech updates.
These included a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster on some variants; a new infotainment system; physical volume and tuning dials; and wireless Android Auto connectivity to join the already standard wireless Apple CarPlay.
No changes were made to the powertrain lineup, and we expect the MU-X will follow its ute sibling’s playbook.
The MU-X currently offers a choice of two turbo-diesel four-cylinder engines: a 1.9-litre with 110kW and 350Nm, and a 3.0-litre with 140kW and 450Nm.
Both are available with either rear- or four-wheel drive, with a six-speed automatic standard across the range. The 1.9-litre joined the local lineup earlier this year.
