The updated BMW 2 Series Coupe has been detailed for Australia, ahead of its launch in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Pricing is up by $2600 on the base 230i and by $3900 on the M240i xDrive, but there’s more standard equipment.
The 230i gets heated front seats, tyre pressure monitoring and BMW’s Parking Assistant Plus, while the M240i xDrive gains a heated steering wheel, M Sport seats, and CraftedClarity glass interior trim.
Both 2 Series Coupes also get the new BMW Operating System 8.5, which promises “intuitive and rapid control of functions” and coincides with a further reduction in the number of physical switches in the cabin.
The air vents can now be moved with new control knobs, while standard ambient lighting includes new waterfall lighting integrated into the centre air vent colours.
There’s also a new flat-bottomed, leather-wrapped steering wheel, which on the M240i has a red 12 o’clock marker.
As far as visual updates go, they’re minor – the side skirts and lower rear apron are now body-colour instead of black, while the diffuser is finished in high-gloss black.
All local-spec models continue to come standard with the M Sport package, and also gain darker Shadowline exterior trim. The M240i also gets high-gloss black mirror caps.
You can get the M2’s Zandvoort Blue on the M240i xDrive, while all 2 Series Coupe models get new Fire Red and Skyscraper Grey exterior finishes. There are also new 19-inch alloy wheel designs.

Efficiency
BMW hasn’t confirmed any changes to fuel consumption. Given there are no mechanical changes, the existing figures are expected to carry over.
The pre-update 230i uses 6.4L/100km on the combined cycle, while the M240i xDrive uses 8L/100km.

Servicing and Warranty
BMW backs its vehicles with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
It hasn’t confirmed service pricing for the 2025 range.
Safety
The BMW 2 Series Coupe doesn’t currently have a rating from ANCAP, but it has a four-star safety rating from sister authority Euro NCAP.
It received an adult occupant protection rating of 82 per cent, a child occupant protection rating of 81 per cent, a vulnerable road user protection rating of 67 per cent, and a safety assist rating of 64 per cent.
