The updated Peugeot 2008 has arrived in Australia, with a fresh look and a more efficient powertrain.
Revealed overseas in May 2023, the updated small crossover starts at $39,990 before on-road costs – up $1045 on last year’s model.
It has arrived here in two trims – Allure and GT – with Peugeot confirming the related electric E-2008 will arrive “at a later date”.
The switch from a six-speed to an eight-speed automatic transmission, previously limited in Australia to the more powerful but now defunct GT Sport, has resulted in reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
These figures are down to 5.4L/100km and 123g/km from 6.5L/100km and 148g/km. Power and torque outputs are unchanged.
Exterior revisions include a new grille with body-colour slats, “three-claw” LED daytime running lights, and “3D-effect” tail lights, as well as the brand’s new shield-style grille.
There are black mirror caps, while all models ride on new 17-inch ‘Karakoy’ diamond-cut alloy wheels, though 18-inch alloys are optional on the GT.
Inside, there’s now wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity for the standard 10-inch touchscreen, which runs an upgraded infotainment system.
The system also includes three games, including HangMan, if you want to kill some time while parked.
There are now two USB-C outlets up front; the rear has one, alongside a single USB-A outlet.
GT models get a passenger-side ambient lighting strip that’s linked to the drive mode, while Peugeot promises improved visibility from the standard reversing camera.
Other new features include front parking sensors on the Allure, adaptive LED headlights on the GT, and a suite of Connected Services with a complimentary three-year subscription.

Drivetrains
The 2024 Peugeot 2008 is powered by a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 96kW of power at 5500rpm and 230Nm of torque at 1750rpm.
It’s mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2008 is front-wheel drive.
Efficiency
The 2024 Peugeot 2008 uses 5.4L/100km on the combined cycle and emits 123g/km of CO2.
It has a 44L fuel tank.
Dimensions
The 2024 Peugeot 2008 measures 4304mm long, 1815mm wide (1987mm including the mirrors) and 1550mm tall on a 2605mm wheelbase.
It has 434L of boot space (545L measured to the roof), expanding to 1015L and 1467L respectively with the rear seats folded.
Servicing and Warranty
The Peugeot 2008 is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first, with the first five services capped at $366, $633, $366, $647 and $380. That works out to $2392 over five years.
You can, however, purchase a pre-paid service plan. A five-year one costs $1700, while three- and four-year plans are $950 and $1400, respectively.
Safety
The Peugeot 2008 has a five-star safety rating from ANCAP, based on testing conducted in 2019.
It received an adult occupant protection rating of 93 per cent, a child occupant protection rating of 87 per cent, a vulnerable road user protection rating of 73 per cent, a safety assist rating of 72 per cent.
