2024 Nissan Patrol finally gets long-awaited interior upgrades

For the first time in more than a decade, the Nissan Patrol has a new interior design in Australia – but it’s not the complete overhaul many have been waiting for.

Nissan Australia has partnered with Melbourne-based firm Directed Technologies to bring long-awaited smartphone connectivity to the Patrol, as well as a handful of other upgrades.

For 2024 models – due in showrooms this month – the large SUV will now feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen which includes both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Included in the new infotainment system is DAB+ digital radio and an iGO Street Navigation system, which comes with a complimentary one-month subscription to Hema 4×4 Navigation for off-road guidance.

Additional changes include the removal of one USB-A port for a faster USB-C connection and a 15-watt wireless smartphone charging pocket.

A small storage bin now sits where the 8.0-inch screen was previously placed.

Nissan hasn’t stopped there with the interior upgrades, fitting the Patrol with a wide-angle reversing camera, a digital rear-view mirror, and a centre console cool box between the front seats.

The Patrol’s existing six-speaker sound system has been enhanced for the luxury Ti-L variant, with the speakers now supplied by Infinity – not to be confused with Nissan’s luxury brand Infiniti.

The upgraded 2024 Nissan Patrol upgrades incurs a price increase of $3000 across the board, with the entry-level Ti now priced from $87,900 before on-road costs, the Ti-L begins at $100,600 and the Warrior tops out at $104,160.

The current Y62-generation Nissan Patrol arrived in Australia in 2013 but its interior had been left largely unchanged from what went on sale globally in 2011, despite a substantial update having been made to left-hand drive (LHD) models in markets like the US and the Middle East.

In LHD examples, the Patrol is fitted with a different dashboard featuring a 12.3-inch, tablet-style infotainment screen running wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay – with Australian owners forced to settle for a standard 8.0-inch screen without smartphone mirroring, or install an aftermarket unit.

While not yet revealed or even confirmed for Australia, a new-generation Nissan Patrol is on the way globally, after its luxury twin – the Infiniti QX80 – was unveiled last month.
