The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander lineup has expanded, with the brand’s GSR moniker returning on a range-topping plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant of the popular SUV.
It’s due in showrooms in April 2024.
Priced from $73,790 before on-road costs, the Outlander PHEV GSR surpasses the Exceed Tourer as the most expensive variant in the range by $2000.
It’s also $21,500 more than the previous-generation Outlander PHEV GSR, sold here between 2020 and 2021.
As with the Mitsubishi Triton, Pajero Sport and ASX’s GSR variants, the Outlander PHEV gains black exterior highlights, extending to its front and rear bumper skid plates, grille surround, door mirror caps, lower belt lines, roof rails, fog light surrounds and 20-inch wheels.
There’s also black ‘Outlander’ bonnet lettering and a GSR badge on the SUV’s tailgate.
Inside, silver contrast stitching is found on the instrument panel, door trims and seats, complementing the black headlining, A-pillar trims, seats and doors. A piano black gearshift panel is also fitted.
Standard equipment carries over from the existing Outlander PHEV, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-speaker Bose premium sound system and 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto.
Powering the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GSR is a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, with dual electric motors contributing to total outputs of 185kW and 450Nm.
Drive is sent to all four wheels through a single-speed transaxle. Mitsubishi claims the Outlander PHEV can drive up to 84km on electric-only power, according to lenient NEDC testing.
