Mercedes-Benz’s updated GLA range is now on sale, with a range of cosmetic tweaks and mild-hybrid powertrains across the range.

The base price has climbed $5700 to $68,900 before on-roads, though the entry-level GLA 200 now comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable front seats with memory, metallic paint, a surround-view camera, and adaptive cruise control.

The AMG GLA 35 is the flagship for now, with Mercedes-Benz yet to confirm an updated AMG GLA 45 S for our market.

All models now feature 48V mild-hybrid systems, which can provide 10kW of additional power for brief periods and allows the vehicle to coast with the combustion engine switched off.

The 48V onboard power supply powers the belt-driven starter-generator and also recuperates energy during braking. Mercedes-Benz says its integration improves refinement and comfort.

The updated GLA range receives a “modernised” headlight and tail light signature. There’s also a redesigned front bumper with a new radiator grille.

The GLA now features the latest generation of the MBUX infotainment software, which comes with redesigned display styles, a voice assistant, and optional in-built games. It also now allows for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

On the safety front, the updated GLA receives tweaks to the lane-keep assist and active steering control. The next-generation parking package also supports longitudinal parking.
