The entry-level Mercedes-AMG GLC has been priced for Australia, with the first two of four fast SUVs arriving in showrooms next week.
Mercedes-AMG has done away with GLC 43’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 of old and now moved to a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder, aided by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
The electrification has resulted in power and torque increases, but also a price rise for the GLC 43’s traditional SUV body style.

Priced from $136,400 before on-road costs, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 SUV is $1930 dearer than it was with V6 power.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43’s ‘Coupe’ body style also returns, starting from $146,900 before on-road costs.
The arrival of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 in Australia showrooms next week (March 11 to 15) comes six months ahead of schedule in the case of the Coupe variant, which was initially due in the fourth quarter of 2024 (October to December inclusive).
Australian buyers will need to wait longer for the flagship GLC 63 S E, which packs even more power and a plug-in hybrid system.

Drivetrains
Gone is the GLC 43’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine now under the bonnet.
The addition of a 48-volt mild-hybrid system – which provides 10kW and 150Nm at low speeds with a belt-driven starter-generator – raises total outputs to 310kW and 500Nm, or 23kW more but 20Nm less than its predecessor.
A nine-speed automatic transmission splits the torque to the front and rear by 39 and 61 per cent respectively.
Mercedes-AMG claims the GLC 43 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, an improvement of one-tenth compared to the outgoing model.
Efficiency
While fuel consumption figures for Australia are yet to be released, Mercedes-AMG has claimed the GLC 43 SUV consumes 9.8-10.2L/100km on a combined cycle, while the Coupe is slightly thirstier with 10.1-10.5L/100km.
The SUV version of the twin-turbo V6 GLC 43 consumes a claimed 10.4L/100km.
Dimensions
Mercedes-AMG is yet to confirm dimensions, weights and towing capacity figures for the new GLC 43.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic SUV upon which it’s based measures 4716mm long, 1890mm wide, and 1640mm tall, with a 2888mm wheelbase.
The GLC 300 4Matic Coupe is slightly longer at 4763mm, and slightly lower at 1605mm.
Servicing and Warranty
Servicing costs and intervals have not yet been locked in for the GLC 43.
All Mercedes-AMG models in Australia are covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Safety
While the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 is yet to be tested by ANCAP, the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV received a five-star safety rating against 2020-2022 testing protocols – however this didn’t apply to the Coupe.
