The 2024 Mazda CX-90 will start arriving in local showrooms from August this year, following pre-orders opening back in March for the brand’s largest, most luxurious model.
UPDATE, 09/10/2023 – Mazda Australia has upped pricing of the entire CX-90 range by $600 as part of a price hike across the wider range.
A Mazda Australia spokesperson said this price rise is due to “market changes, raw materials and production costs”, along with “currency fluctuations”.
They also confirmed there are no specific specification changes that coincide with this price rise.
UPDATE, 29/08/2023 – Mazda Australia has adjusted the pricing of certain CX-90 variants due to changes with the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold. We’ve also added service pricing.
Powered exclusively by 48V electrified inline-six engines at launch, the CX-90 will not only compete with the likes of the Hyundai Palisade and Nissan Pathfinder, but also entry-level versions of the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90.
As with the smaller Mazda CX-60, which rides on the same rear-drive platform, the CX-90 will be offered in Australia with three trim levels. The inline sixes (one petrol, one diesel) are the only options available at launch, though a 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid is due in the second half of 2024.
Pricing starts from $74,400 for the entry-level CX-90 G50e Touring, and climbs to $94,455 for the top-spec G50e Azami. All prices exclude on-road costs.
All versions of the Mazda CX-90 come as standard with seven seats, though the top-spec Azami can be optioned with second-row captain’s chairs and a rear centre console as part of two optional $5000 packages.
“The Mazda CX-90 establishes a new dimension in grand SUV touring,” said Vinesh Bhindi, managing director for Mazda Australia.
“This is more than Mazda’s new flagship SUV: The CX-90 is an expression of exceptional craftsmanship and human-centric technologies, a sophisticated and dynamic vehicle for families and lovers of adventure.”

Powertrains
At launch, the Mazda CX-90 will be available with a pair of 3.3-litre inline six powertrains with 48V M Hybrid technology – one petrol, one diesel.
G50e versions feature a 3.3-litre turbocharged inline six petrol mild-hybrid, developing 254kW and 500Nm. It’s the most powerful series-production Mazda engine ever made.
Meanwhile, D50e models feature a 3.3-litre inline six turbo-diesel mild-hybrid, which develops 187kW (3750rpm) and 550Nm (1500-2400rpm).
The M Hybrid Boost system comprises a 48V mild-hybrid system that “supports the engine at lower speeds while delivering enhanced environmental performance by using regenerative braking to replenish the onboard battery”.
Unlike some other mild-hybrid systems, Mazda hasn’t confirmed exact outputs the M Hybrid Boost function contributes when supporting the engine.
While not available from launch, the brand will add a 240kW/500Nm 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid drivetrain shared with the smaller CX-60 with 50-60km of EV driving range.

Servicing and Warranty
Mazda covers its entire range with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
G50e models will require maintenance every 12 months and 15,000 kilometres, while the D50e models have shorter 10,000km gaps between services.
In G50e models, the first five services are capped at $437, $644, $558, $1268 and $453, for a total of $3360 over five years.
