The Mercedes-Benz eVito and eVito Tourer have touched down in Australia, with pricing kicking off from just shy of $90,000 before on-road costs.
A Mercedes-Benz Vans spokesperson confirmed “limited stock” is available right now, with more cars arriving before the end of 2022.
Factory orders are also open for those who want to configure their own car.
The eVito and eVito Tourer are leading the EV charge for Mercedes-Benz Vans ahead of the more luxurious EQV touching down later in 2022.
The eVito looks like a regular panel van, and has a load bay that’s slightly smaller than what’s on offer in a Vito SWB with petrol or diesel power. Its 882kg payload is down around 400kg on the equivalent diesel Vito SWB.
Meanwhile, the eVito Tourer is an eight-seat people mover aimed at fleet operators keen to cut down on their fuel costs.
The eVito is early to the EV van party in Australia.
Renault has long sold the smaller Kangoo Z.E. and will launch the new model in 2023. The bigger Renault Master E-Tech is set for 2024.
Ford is bringing the e-Transit (2023) and smaller e-Transit Custom (2024) to Australia, while Peugeot has indicated it sees a market for the electric vans it offers in Europe locally.
Volkswagen also has plans for the ID. Buzz Cargo in Australia, but again not until 2024 at the earliest.

The eVito Tourer packs a front-mounted electric motor making 150kW and 365Nm, mated with a 90kWh battery pack.
Efficiency
Claimed range in the eVito panel van is 262km on the more lenient NEDC test cycle, equivalent to 27.36kWh per 100km.
An 11kW AC charger can recharge the car in around 6.5 hours, while a DC fast charger operating at the van’s 80kW max speed will boost it from 10 to 80 per cent in 35 minutes.
The eVito Tourer has a claimed range of 421km on the NEDC test cycle, equivalent to 26.15kWh per 100km.
Its larger battery takes around 10 hours to charge using an 11kW AC charger. It’s capable of 110kW DC fast charging, at which speed it takes 45 minutes to go from 10 to 80 per cent.
Dimensions
The eVito measures 5140mm long, 1928mm wide and 1915mm tall, with a 3200mm wheelbase.
Its load bay is 2678mm long, 1931mm wide, and 1261mm tall. The max rear axle load is 1750kg, and maximum payload is 882kg.
The eVito tourer measures 5140mm long, 1928mm wide, and 1880mm tall, with a 3200mm wheelbase.
It has seating for eight, and a maximum boot space of 1030 litres depending on its seating configuration.
Servicing and Warranty
The eVito pair is covered by a five-year, 250,000 kilometre warranty on the vehicle hardware, and an eight-year, 160,000km warranty on the lithium-ion battery pack.
Maintenance is required every 12 months or 40,000km. CarExpert will add service pricing when it’s been confirmed by Mercedes-Benz.
