Kia Australia is expecting the flagship version of its updated Seltos crossover to be the top seller, with 35 per cent of next year’s circa-10,000 units to be the $40,000-plus GT-Line grade.

    Kia Australia’s executive team said it’s expecting around 10,000 units of the new Seltos in during the 2023 calendar year, and also broke down the forecast sales split across the line-up.

    Leading the way is the GT-Line 1.6T AWD and Sport 2.0 FWD with 25 per cent (approx. 2500 units) apiece, followed by the Sport+ 1.6T AWD and S 2.0 FWD with 15 per cent (approx. 1500 units) each.

    The new GT-Line 2.0 FWD is expected to account for 10 per cent (approx. 1000 units) of next year’s sales mix, as is the Sport+ 2.0 FWD.

    Pricing for the 2023 Kia Seltos GT-Line starts at $41,500 plus on-road costs for the 2.0 FWD and $44,900 before on-roads for the 1.6T AWD. Kia Australia is also launching with drive-away pricing of $44,590 and $47,690 respectively.

    An annual volume of around 10,000 units should be a slight improvement on this year. As of October 31, Kia has registered 7803 units of the supply-constrained Seltos this year, up 5.2 per cent on the same period in 2021.

    With a monthly average of 780.3 units based on the above figure, that translates to 9363 sales for this year. Should Kia meet its 10,000-unit projection, that equates to around 830 units per month.

    Year to date, the Kia Seltos is the fifth best-selling model in the mainstream small SUV segment in 2022, behind the MG ZS family (16,359 units, up 10.0 per cent), Mazda CX-30 (12,252 units, up 8.1 per cent), Mitsubishi ASX (10,939 units, down 9.5 per cent) and the related Hyundai Kona (10,274 units, down 7.9 per cent).
