Pricing for the 2022 Mazda 3 has been revealed, ahead of its arriving in showrooms before the end of 2021.
UPDATE, 09/05/2022 – Mazda Australia increased the before on-road asking price for the 3 by $200 as part of a range-wide price increase in April 2022.
A Mazda Australia spokesperson said this price increase is due to supply chain constraints, as well as production costs. There have been no specification changes.
Pricing for the Mazda 3 range now starts at $26,540 before on-road costs for the G20 Pure hatch and sedan, and extends to $42,690 before on-road costs for the X20 Astina hatch and sedan.
Mazda first increased the prices between $200 and $350 in November 2021, and again by $100 in February 2022.
You’re no longer able to get manual Mazda 3 models with the optional Vision Technology package, while the manual version of the flagship X20 Astina has been dropped.
However, there’s now a new mild-hybrid G20e Evolve variant, while the G25 Evolve has – ahem, evolved – to become the sportier-looking Evolve SP.
The G20e Evolve M Hybrid uses a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine backed by a 24V mild-hybrid system.
Peak power is 114kW at 6000rpm, peak torque is 200Nm at 4000rpm, and claimed combined fuel economy is 5.9L/100km for the sedan and 6.0L/100km for the auto. That means only the X20 is thriftier.
The G25 Evolve SP features black 18-inch alloy wheels, exterior mirrors, a black front grille, and black cloth seats with red trim accents.
That means you’ll finally be able to get a Mazda 3 sedan with black wheels.
Speaking of colours, there’s a new Platinum Quartz Metallic, while Polymetal Grey is also now available on the sedan.
Titanium Flash is off the colour list and Pure White leather is no longer available on the X20 Astina. However, you can now specify Burgundy or Pure White leather with any exterior colour on other Astina models.
There have been some other minor changes too, with the base G20 Pure gaining a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter and the X20 Astina receiving engine sound and ride comfort improvements plus new exterior badging.

The Mazda 3 has a claimed boot capacity of 444L for the sedan, and 295L for the hatch. Underneath the boot floor is a space-saver spare.
