The Night Eagle flies again.

The Jeep Compass range will once again open with a Night Eagle trim for 2022, replacing the Launch Edition that debuted as part of the small SUV’s mid-life update last year.

It’s priced $2000 higher than the variant it replaces, pushing the Compass’ base price perilously close to $40,000 at $39,950 before on-road costs.

The carryover Limited, S-Limited and Trailhawk are each up by $1000, while option prices have also crept up slightly.

UPDATE, 5/10/2022Jeep has published updated Compass pricing on its website, with all bar the Night Eagle up by a further $1350 since their last price increase in March, representing an overall hike of $2750 since last July.

The Compass range is otherwise unchanged, and Jeep notes these increases are for model year 2022 vehicles. It’s unclear whether an additional price increase will come with 2023 vehicles.

As with other Night Eagle models in the Jeep line-up, the new base Compass will feature darkened exterior elements.

That includes 18-inch black-finish alloy wheels, plus gloss black detailing for the fog lamp bezels, grille and badging. The window surrounds are also finished in black, as is the roof.

Inside, there’s a black headliner, as well as piano black accents plus black accent stitching.

Pearl White is new to the Compass range’s colour palette, replacing the solid Bright White.
