Citroen says it has listened to public feedback and will produce an “ultra-limited edition” version of its all-electric Ami quadricycle, based on the distinctive My Ami Buggy concept.
The French automaker will produce only 50 examples of the My Ami Buggy and each will be priced from €9,790 ($A14,578) in France. These will be available to purchase through a dedicated online sales portal from June 21.
The Citroen Ami isn’t offered locally as Australian Design Rules (ADRs) currently prevent quadricycles from being sold here due to safety concerns.
In other words, don’t expect the My Ami Buggy to come Down Under any time soon.
The Citroen My Ami Buggy was first seen in concept form back in December 2021 with a number of off-road-focused exterior design elements including knobbly tyres, nudge bars and roof rails.
The production version of the My Ami Buggy has been toned down slightly from the concept, losing items like the headlight grilles and nudge bar.
There are 14-inch gold perforated steel wheels with model-specific black decorative caps. These wheels are wrapped in regular tyres, rather than the rugged mud tyres on the concept.
Citroen says the My Ami Buggy has a “friendly, intrepid adventurer’s temperament” and is painted in khaki with yellow highlights like the concept.
Also similar to the concept, the production My Ami Buggy has no proper side doors. Instead, there are hinged metal tubes that replace the doors.
Building on the open-air feel, the My Ami Buggy has a rollable fabric soft-up roof that is waterproof and UV-treated.
Citroen says this pays homage to the iconic Mehari off-roader and 2CV.
The soft-top attaches to the roof with snap fasteners and can be rolled up and stored behind the two seats.
Other notable exterior design elements include front and rear bumper reinforcements, wheel arch cladding, rock sliders and a rear spoiler.
Citroen says the front plate can be personalised to read whatever you want, and there’s also a khaki car cover for protection.

There are also yellow highlights inside the cabin that show off the three areas of dashboard storage, the bag hook and opening straps.
The seats are finished in black “technical fabric” upholstery with yellow contrast stitching, and there are also yellow details on the floor mats.
Citroen says the 50 purchasers of the My Ami Buggy will receive a “VIP home delivery” experience starting from August 8, 2022.
The French automaker hasn’t detailed the powertrain or battery specifications and outputs, although it’s expected to be very similar to the regular Ami given the strict regulations around quadricycles.
The regular Citroen Ami is powered by a single electric motor that produces 6kW of power and is powered by a 5.5kWh lithium-ion battery. It has a top speed of 45km/h.
Citroen claims the regular Ami has a range of 75km according to World Motorcycle Test Cycle (WMTC) testing and the quadricycle has a kerb weight of less than 500kg.
Unlike normal passenger cars, children as young as 14 are legally allowed to drive light quadricycles, like the Citroen Ami, in France.
