    Engines

All of the powertrains are unchanged for the 2022 model year and is one of the few in its segment to still offer a diesel powertrain.

sDrive18i models are powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder producing 103kW of power and 220Nm of torque. This is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic that powers the front wheels only.

sDrive18d models are powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder producing 110kW and 330Nm. This is mated to an eight-speed torque-converter automatic that powers the front wheels only.

sDrive20i models are powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder producing 141kW and 280Nm. This is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic that powers the front wheels only.

xDrive25i models are powered by a higher-output 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder producing 170kW and 350Nm. This is mated to an eight-speed torque-converter automatic and is the only model to send this power through an all-wheel drive system.

BMW claims the sDrive18i will do the 0-100km/h sprint in 9.6 seconds, the sDrive18d in 9.2 seconds, the sDrive20i in 7.6 seconds and the xDrive25i in 6.5 seconds.
