Better late than never, right?
After launching with the high-end 140TSI model earlier this year, the full Volkswagen T-Roc range has hit local showrooms.
Slotting in below the Tiguan but above the Polo-based T-Cross, it goes head-to-head with the related Skoda Karoq, along with the Mazda CX-30 and Kia Seltos.
Even the base 110TSI Style is hardly wanting for features, with standard equipment including adaptive cruise control, proximity entry with push-button start, and ambient interior lighting.
All prices exclude on-road costs.
At the end of the day, the price you pay at the dealership will be dependent on a number of factors such as when you want to buy (is the dealership chasing sales?), the stage of life of the model you’re purchasing (is a new generation being launched soon?) and of course your strength as a negotiator.
The 2021 Volkswagen T-Roc is available with two powertrains. The base 110TSI Style is powered by a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine producing 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 110TSI Style is front-wheel drive.
The 140TSI Sport is all-wheel drive and use a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 140kW and 320Nm, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The 2021 Volkswagen T-Roc consumes 6.2L/100km on the combined cycle in 110TSI Style guise and 7.2L/100km on the combined cycle in the 140TSI Sport.
Both require 95RON premium unleaded fuel.
The 2021 Volkswagen T-Roc measures 4234mm long, 1573mm tall, and 1819mm wide.
Cargo volume measures 445L, expanding to 1290L with the rear seats folded.
ANCAP has recorded a rating of five stars for the T-Roc.
That’s based on Euro NCAP testing conducted in 2017, where the T-Roc received an adult protection score of 96 per cent, a child occupant protection score of 87 per cent, a pedestrian protection score of 79 per cent, and a safety assist score of 71 per cent.
All 2021 T-Roc models come standard with the following active safety features:
Anti-lock brakes and front, front-side and curtain airbags also feature across the range.
The 2021 Volkswagen T-Roc is covered by Volkswagen’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
It’s available with either a three-year or five-year servicing care plan, priced at $1300 and $2100 respectively.
The T-Roc 110TSI Style comes standard with the following features:
The optional $2000 Sound and Vision package adds:
The $3800 Luxury package adds:
Over the 110TSI Style’s standard equipment, the 140TSI Sport adds:
It’s available with a $2000 Sound and Style Package, which adds:
The $3500 Luxury Package adds:
Metallic paint is a $600 option.
