Porsche has given its plug-in hybrid Cayennes greater battery capacity and, in turn, improved electric range.
The 2021 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid and Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid now have greater battery capacity than before.
The plug-in hybrid Porsches’ lithium-ion batteries have been upgraded from 14.1kWh to 17.9kWh, increasing electric range by up to 30 per cent.
The updated models will arrive in the first quarter of next year.
Though local figures aren’t yet available, Porsche quotes electric range figures of 48km for the Cayenne E-Hybrid and 42km for the Turbo S E-Hybrid under WLTP measures.
The Cayenne E-Hybrid uses a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine mated with an electric motor and the aforementioned battery, with combined outputs of 340kW of power and 700Nm of torque.
It can reach a top speed of 135km/h purely on electric power.
The Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine and has a total system output of 500kW of power and 900Nm of torque.
Both models feature all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
With the bigger battery comes an adjusted charging strategy, with the battery now charging more slowly once it reaches 80 per cent.
Porsche also claims E-Charge mode – which uses the engine to charge the battery – is more efficient than before.
All prices exclude on-road costs.
