BMW’s small car brand has revealed pricing for its updated 3-Door Hatch, 5-Door Hatch and Convertible lines, including the three-door Mini Electric.
The updated range is due here by June 2021.
Prices range from $37,500 before on-road costs for the Cooper 3-Door Hatch Classic to $67,880 before on-roads for the John Cooper Works Convertible Mini Yours.
Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper SE (Electric) and John Cooper Works models are available in a selection of trim levels.
The base Classic and highest-spec Mini Yours packages are available across all four grades, with Cooper S models offering a JCW Sport package, Cooper models offering a Classic Plus package, and John Cooper Works models offering an Essential package.
All up, there are 11 3-Door Hatch variants to choose from, six 5-Door Hatch models, and nine Convertible variants.
The front bumper has received some minor cosmetic tweaks, while inside the centre stack has received a minor update with piano black trim.
The 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system also includes touch-sensitive shortcut buttons, as well as updated graphics on the screen itself.
There’s a new, leather-wrapped steering wheel across all models, while the Mini Electric’s 5.5-inch digital instrument cluster is now standard across the range.
Piano Black trim is now used on the Cooper S and John Cooper Works models’ door handles, fuel cap, and badging, with darkened lighting assemblies to match.
There are also three new wheel designs and three new colours: Rooftop Grey, Island Blue, and Zesty Yellow, the latter exclusive to the Convertible.

Engines
2021 Mini Cooper models are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 100kW of power and 220Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Cooper S models upgrade to a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 141kW of power and 280Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
John Cooper Works models see those outputs increased to 170kW and 320Nm, with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Mini Electric models feature a 32.6kWh battery and a single electric motor with 135kW of power and 270Nm of torque.
0-100km/h times are 8.8 seconds for the Cooper Convertible, 8.2 seconds for all Cooper hatchbacks, 7.3 seconds in the Electric, 7.1 seconds for the Cooper S Convertible, 6.7 seconds in the Cooper S hatchbacks, 6.5 seconds for the John Cooper Works Convertible and 6.1 seconds in the John Cooper Works hatch.
Fuel Economy
The Mini Cooper 3-Door Hatch uses 5.6L/100km on the combined cycle, while the three-door Cooper S uses 5.8L/100km and the John Cooper Works uses 6.3L/100km.
In the Mini 5-Door Hatch, the Cooper uses 5.7L/100km and the Cooper S 5.8L/100km.
The Cooper Convertible uses 6L/100km, while the Cooper S uses 6.3L/100km and the John Cooper Works uses 6.5L/100km.
Claimed driving range is 233km for the Mini Electric.
Dimensions
The 2021 Mini 3-Door Hatch measures 3863mm long as a Cooper, 3876mm as a Cooper S, 3872mm as a John Cooper Works, and 3850mm as an Electric.
It’s 1414mm tall in all bar the Electric, which is 1432mm tall.
It has a 2495mm wheelbase and measures 1727mm wide. Boot space is 211L.
The 5-Door is 3982mm long as a Cooper and 4005mm as a Cooper S, while all 5-Door models are 1425mm tall and 1727mm wide on a 2567mm wheelbase. Boot space is 278L.
The Convertible is 3863mm long as a Cooper, 3876mm as a Cooper S and 3872mm as a John Cooper Works, on a 2495mm wheelbase.
It’s 1415mm tall and 1727mm wide with a 215L boot.
Servicing and Warranty
All 2021 Mini models are covered by a three-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Mini offers a five-year/80,000km capped-price servicing plan in two levels of cover.
The Basic plan costs $900 in the Electric, $1650 in the John Cooper Works, and $1595 in all other models.
The Plus plan includes brake pad, wiper blade, and clutch disc and plate replacements and costs $3330 in the Electric, $4320 in the John Cooper Works, and $4155 in all other models.
Safety
Only the Mini 3-Door Hatch has a safety rating from ANCAP: four stars, based on testing conducted in 2014.
It received a frontal offset score of 14.60 out of 16, a side impact score of 12.19 out of 16, pedestrian and whiplash protection ratings of Good and Acceptable, respectively, and an overall score of 31.78 out of 37.
