    2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class interior revealed

The slow-motion unveiling of the W223 Mercedes-Benz S-Class continues with the largely button-free cabin the latest piece to be more fully unveiled.

Mercedes-Benz has always used the S-Class to show just how luxurious its cabins can be, and the 2021 model is no exception.

The new S-Class will feature fancy interior lighting options, and a yacht-inspired design theme.

Officially, the German automaker has already detailed the new My MBUX infotainment system, as well as its improved safety technology, including a catcher’s mitt-style airbag for rear seat passengers.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the interior, though. In May, photos of an undisguised S-Class were published online, and gave us all a good look at the dashboard, as well as the front and rear ends.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the cabin of the new S-Class has a comfortable lounge-like feel. The trim was inspired by ship decks with gently-curved surfaces, and features a mix of wood, piano black surfaces and metal pieces.

Ambient lighting comes from a network of fibre optic cables, diffusers, and 250 LEDs.

Brightness can be adjusted through 20 levels. Maximum brightness is said to 10 times higher than in today’s S-Class, and can be seen easily during the day. The ambient lights turn red when an assistance system needs to get the driver’s attention.

Other features in the new S-Class include neck warmers, seashell-style front seats, and speakers integrated into the front seat headrests.

There will be multiple options available for the rear passenger area, including two or three seats, reclining seats, and a folding centre armrest or business console.
