Land Rover has expanded its Defender line-up for 2021, with new engines, new safety kit, and a new 90 body style.
The first batch of Land Rover Defenders has barely touched down in Australia, but the flagship off-roader already being updated.
A trio of inline six-cylinder Ingenium diesel engines has replaced the four-cylinder diesels offered at launch, with three different outputs:
The base D200 will be reserved for the smaller Defender 90, the five-door Defender 110 range will kick off with the more powerful D250.
Also new for 2021 is the entry-level P300 petrol engine. The four-cylinder engine has 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque, backed by a 48V mild-hybrid system.
Land Rover has expanded the range of active safety features standard across the 90 and 110 line-ups, adding blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear collision monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and a clear exit monitor.
Also expanded for 2021 is the list of options available. Four new colours have been added to the palette, and buyers can tick boxes for a folding fabric roof on the Defender 110, a 3D surround-view camera, premium LED headlights, a Meridian sound system, a head-up display, and fog lights.
A new X-Dynamic package has been added to the options list as well, priced at $7500. It’s designed to bring design and interior cues from the roughest, toughest Defender X into the regular line-up. The package includes:
