Hyundai has revealed preliminary specifications for its all-new Sonata N Line sedan, ahead of an Australian market launch before year’s end.
As reported earlier this week the sportiest N-Line sedan will be the sole offering in Australia, with Hyundai’s local division opting to bin the previously-promised non-N Line variants.
Headlining the spec sheet will be the company’s new ‘Smartstream’ 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, quoting outputs of 213kW and 422Nm – the latter on tap between 1650 and 4000rpm.
Drive is sent to the front axle through a quick-shifting N eight-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters, straight out of the new i30 N hot hatch. Kerb weight is rated at 1636 kilograms.
The Sonata N Line also features launch control, the new N Power Shift function borrowed from the i30 N and Veloster N which minimises torque reduction on flat-out upshifts, and an upgraded front and rear brake package for added stopping power.
Other enhancements include firmer bushings, higher spring rates, revised shock absorber valving, and larger sway bars front and rear for a firmer, grippier drive.
Several drive modes will be available via the Drive Mode Selector, including Normal, Sport, Sport + and Custom, while an active sound design (ASD) feature enhances the engine sound via the cabin’s speakers depending on drive mode.
As for safety and assistance technologies, the Sonata N Line will come standard with autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist with Lane Follow Assist, adaptive cruise control with stop/go, as well as active blind spot and rear cross-traffic assists.
Inside there’s also a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster ahead of the driver augmented by a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, the latter offering dual Bluetooth support so two devices can be paired at the same time.
As detailed at the Sonata N Line’s global reveal, the bespoke interior scores a perforated leather N steering wheel, leather/suede sports seats with red stitching, N gearshift with metal accents and leather insets, as well as alloy sports pedals.
Other features include keyless access, remote start, wireless phone charging and a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system with subwoofer.
