The Honda Accord lives on, even as rival brands exit the mid-size segment.
Having arrived in Australia late in 2019, the 10th generation Accord range consists of two identically-specified four-cylinder models: one with a turbocharger, and one with a hybrid system.
From July 1, 2021, Honda’s new ‘Price Promise’ comes into effect. That means no haggling and fixed drive-away pricing nationwide as Honda switches to an agency sales model.
Although the Accord doesn’t sell in huge volumes, it acts as somewhat of a flagship for Honda Australia.
It’s outlived long-running rivals like the Ford Mondeo, Kia Optima and Subaru Liberty, all of which were discontinued in 2020.
While it remains a strong seller in markets like the US, only 165 Accords were sold in 2020. That put it well behind the Mazda 6 (1727), let alone the indomitable Toyota Camry (13,727).
Pricing
- 2021 Honda Accord VTi-LX: $57,400
- 2021 Honda Accord VTi-LX Hybrid: $60,400
All prices are drive-away.
Engines
There are two engines offered in the 2021 Honda Accord, first of which is a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol four-cylinder.
It produces 140kW of power and 260Nm of torque, put to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The hybrid pairs a 2.0-litre petrol four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a combined 158kW and 315Nm, put once again to the front wheels using a hybrid-specific e-CVT transmission.
Fuel Economy
The 2021 Honda Accord petrol uses a claimed 6.5L/100km on the combined cycle, while the hybrid improves that figure to 4.3L/100km.
Both models run on 91RON regular unleaded fuel.
The hybrid has a 48L fuel tank while the turbo has a 56L tank.

The 2021 Honda Accord measures 4904mm long, 2137mm wide and 1450mm tall, with a 2830mm wheelbase.

Servicing and Warranty
Servicing is required every 12 months or 10,000km – whichever comes first.

As with the entire Honda range, the Accord is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Safety
The 2020 Honda Accord hasn’t been tested by ANCAP, nor the organisation’s partners at Euro NCAP.
