Interested in an Alfa Romeo Stelvio?

Alfa Romeo’s BMW X3 rival has ditched diesel and added a bunch of extra kit at the entry-level.

The 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio range has a new Sport trim, priced at $69,950 before on-road costs.

UPDATE, 18/06/2021 – Alfa Romeo has revealed pricing for the rest of the Stelvio range, while the previously announced Sport has received a $500 price rise. We’ve updated the article below.

The Stelvio range is in Australian dealerships now.

The Sport costs $3550 more than last year’s base model, which was simply called Stelvio, though Alfa Romeo says it offers eight per cent more value.

The unnamed base model has received some more equipment, though it’s now a special order-only vehicle.

The Stelvio Sport’s suite of active safety and driver assist features includes adaptive cruise control, driver attention monitoring, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and blind-spot assist.

The latter will provide steering intervention if it detects you’re crossing into the path of another vehicle, instead of providing only audiovisual alerts.

All bar adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition also now feature on the special order-only base model.

The Sport is distinguished visually via a gloss black daylight opening, red brake calipers, rear privacy glass, and aluminium pedals.

A full breakdown of equipment for each variant is detailed further down in the article.

As with the updated Giulia, the infotainment system is new, though it still uses an 8.8-inch touchscreen. The centre console also boasts an improved design with nicer materials.

The new Veloce replaces the Ti as part of an alignment in nomenclature with the Giulia range.

The Stelvio diesel is gone as part of a move away from diesel by Stellantis’ former FCA brands, which has also seen the demise of all diesel Maserati models locally and a shift to a petrol-only range for the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee.
