Alfa Romeo is farewelling the 4C with a run of just 15 special edition 33 Stradale Tributo models.
The company is bringing 10 examples of the 33 Stradale Tributo coupe here, priced at $123,000 before on-roads, plus five examples of the Spider priced at $133,000 before on-roads.
The special edition is available in dealerships now, with customer deliveries beginning in August 2021.
As the name suggests, it’s a tribute to the original mid-engined Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, of which just 18 examples were produced between 1967 and 1969.
Naturally, the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is painted red – Rosso Villa d’Este tri-coat, specifically. The carbon-fibre chassis also has a transparent red finish.
There are grey-gold five-hole alloy wheels, measuring 18 inches up front and 19 inches at the rear, larger than the 17/18 set-up of the standard car.
There’s a carbon-fibre roof on the coupe and a carbon-fibre roll bar on the Spider, while both body styles get carbon-fibre mirror caps emblazoned with the Italian flag plus front vents finished in the material.
The front air intake and rear diffuser are finished in piano black.
Inside, the composite sport seats are finished in black Dinamica suede and tobacco leather, while there’s leather stitching on the upper dashboard, a special 33 Stradale Tributo dash insert, and a numbered centre console badge.
It comes with equipment that’s optional on the regular 4C Spider, including an Akrapovic dual-mode exhaust and racing suspension.
None will be made for Europe as the 4C Spider is no longer sold there. Nor, for that matter, is the hardtop 4C.
Alfa Romeo discontinued the sports car around 12 months ago, leaving it available only in export markets. The 4C coupe was also dropped in the US.
The powertrain is unchanged from the regular 4C, with a 1750cc turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 177kW of power and 350Nm of torque. It’s mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Alfa Romeo claims a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds.
The original 33 Stradale was a hand-built mid-engined sports car based on the Tipo 33 race car – Stradale means “road-going”.
It used a 2.0-litre double overhead-cam V8 engine producing 169kW of power and 206Nm of torque, propelling the Alfa to 100km/h in under six seconds.
