The Porsche 718 range just got more affordable.
A change to the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold has seen prices drop across the Boxster and Cayman ranges. The Cayman S and Boxster S have seen the greatest reduction, their prices slashed by $10,700.
Porsche has also made keyless entry and start and lane-change assist standard across the entire 718 range, excluding the Cayman GT4 and Spyder.
The 2020 Porsche 718 range is available in 12 different variants across the Boxster, Cayman and Spyder nameplates, with prices ranging from $113,100 before on-road costs for the base Cayman to $206,600 before on-road costs for the Cayman GT4.
All prices exclude on-road costs.
The 2020 Porsche Cayman and Boxster use a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 220kW of power and 380Nm of torque. It’s mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Porsche quotes a 0-100km/h time of 5.1 seconds for manual models and 4.9 seconds for automatics.
The Cayman S and Boxster S use a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 257kW of power and 420Nm of torque. It’s mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 0-100km/h sprint is completed in 4.6 seconds in manual models and 4.4 seconds in those with the automatic.
The Cayman GTS 4.0 and Boxster GTS 4.0 both use a 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine producing 294kW of power and 420Nm of torque. The only transmission is a six-speed manual, while both models have a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds
The Cayman GT4 and Spyder also use a 4.0-litre flat-six, albeit with 309kW of power and 420Nm of torque. Again, there’s only a six-speed manual transmission, while the 0-100km/h time is cut down to 4.4 seconds.
The 2020 Porsche Cayman and Boxster consume 7.5L/100km on the combined cycle with the manual transmission and 7.0L/100km with the automatic while the Cayman S and Boxster S consume 8.2L/100km combined with a manual and 7.4L/100km with the auto.
Of the six-cylinder 718s, the Cayman GTS 4.0 and Boxster GTS 4.0 consume 11L/100km while the Cayman GT4 and Spyder consume 11.3L/100km.
All 718 models require 98RON premium unleaded fuel.
The 2020 Porsche 718 measures 4379mm long in all variants except for the Spyder, which is 4430mm long, and the GT4, which measures 4456mm long. It’s 1801mm wide excluding the mirrors.
Height varies depending on the model. The Boxster is 1281mm tall, the Boxster S 1280mm, the Cayman and Cayman S 1295mm, the Boxster GTS 1262mm, the Cayman GTS 1276mm, the Spyder 1258mm and the Cayman GT4 1269mm.
The Porsche 718 hasn’t been tested by ANCAP or Euro NCAP.
All 2020 Porsche 718 models come standard with lane-change assist, anti-lock brakes, and front, front-side and curtain airbags.
The Porsche Boxster and Cayman come standard with the following features:
As is typical for a Porsche, there’s a wide range of options. These include:
Option prices vary slightly between models.

The Boxster GTS 4.0 and Cayman GTS 4.0 add:
Options include 18-way adaptive sports seats ($5150) and full bucket seats ($11,250).

Porsche doesn’t offer a capped-price servicing program.
All 718s require servicing every 12 months or 15,000km and come with a three-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
