Nissan is recalling 181 examples of its Leaf electric vehicle due to a fault with the park lock.
“The welded joint on the actuator plate may fail during use,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If the actuator plate fails, the park lock may not engage when the user shifts into a Park position. This could result in unintended vehicle movement, which may increase the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders.”
- A total of 181 vehicles are affected.
- Vehicles were available for sale from 24 October 2019 to 30 October 2020.

Nissan is contacting owners of affected vehicles.
If you own a Leaf that’s part of the recall, you’ll need to take it to a Nissan dealership for a free replacement of the actuator plate.
In the interim, Nissan advises you to always use the park brake when you park your vehicle.
