2020 Mahindra Pik-Up price and specs

Mahindra's old-school Pik-Up has picked up a few extra features for 2020, while offering a Pastoral Pack aimed at its rural customers.

Mahindra’s rough and ready Pik-Up has been modestly tweaked for 2020, while also gaining a Pastoral Pack aimed at its rural base.

The 2020 Pik-Up is distinguished visually from last year’s model through a new grille, LED daytime running lights, and projector headlights with cornering lights.

Previously, only the S10 had LED daytime running lights.

More upgrades can be found in the cabin. The S6 becomes the S6+ and picks up many of the features previously available only on the range-topping model, such as cruise control, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and height adjustment for the driver’s seat.

S6+ might sound like a smartphone, but you won’t find any infotainment system or much in the way of in-car tech.

In the up-spec S10+ (formerly known as S10), however, the standard touchscreen infotainment system has grown from 6.0 inches to 7.0 inches. It also has satellite navigation.

The new Pastoral Pack is available on the Single Cab S6+. It basically adds all the Pik-Up’s optional factory accessories, including a steel bull bar, bash plate, snorkel and a tow bar. Inside, there’s vinyl flooring and canvas seat covers.

Mahindra has confirmed there’ll be only four models at first: the S6+ Single Cab in either 4×2 or 4×4 guise, the S6+ Single Cab 4×4 Pastoral Pack, and the S10+ Dual Cab 4×4.

That means last year’s base model S6 Dual Cab and mHawk appearance package are gone, at least for now.

    Pricing

    • 2020 Mahindra Pik-Up Single Cab 4×2 S6+: $23,990
    • 2020 Mahindra Pik-Up Single Cab 4×4 S6+: $27,990

    • 2020 Mahindra Pik-Up Single Cab 4×4 S6+ Pastoral Pack: $35,990

    All prices are drive-away.

    Engines

    All 2020 Mahindra Pik-Up models come standard with a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine producing 103kW and 320Nm. It’s mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission.

The Pik-Up is available with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, the latter featuring an Eaton self-locking differential.

    Fuel Economy

The 2020 Mahindra Pik-Up consumes 8.6L/100km on the combined cycle in Single Cab guise or 8.8L/100km as a Dual Cab.

    Dimensions

The 2020 Mahindra Pik-Up measures 5195mm long with a tub or 5175mm long as a cab-chassis. It also measures 1820mm wide, and either 1915mm (Dual Cab) or 1860mm tall (Single Cab).

    Safety

When the Pik-Up was tested by ANCAP in 2012, it received a rating of three stars.

That rating was based on a frontal offset score of 6.60 out of 16 and a side impact score of 16 out of 16. Pedestrian protection was rated poor, while whiplash protection wasn’t tested.

All 2020 Mahindra Pik-Up models come standard with dual airbags and anti-lock brakes. There’s no active safety technology like autonomous emergency braking, however.

    Standard Equipment

The Pik-Up Single Cab S6+ comes standard with the following features:

    • Aluminium tray
    • Cruise control
    • Air-conditioning
    • 16-inch steel wheels
    • Front fog lights

It’s available with the Pastoral Pack, which adds:

    • Brush rails
    • Snorkel
    • Vinyl floor
    • Canvas seat covers
    • Bash plate
    • Tow bar

    The Dual Cab S10+ adds:

A range of trays are optional for cab-chassis S6+ models, while the Pastoral Pack’s features are all available as standalone factory accessories.

    Servicing

The 2020 Mahindra Pik-Up requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

After a free service at three months or 5000km, Mahindra offers four years of capped-price servicing.

These services each cost $499 except for the third year, where the service costs $799.

    All Pik-Ups have a five-year, 100,000km warranty.
