The 2020 Land Rover Discovery has been recalled due to a fault with one of the third-row seat belts.
“The upper anchor point for the seatbelt for the left hand side third row seat (C-D pillar) has not been installed correctly. The plastic trim covering the fixing hole and the body mounted upper anchor point are misaligned,” the company says in its recall notice.
“This misalignment can cause plastic material to become trapped in the fixing threads during installation of the upper anchorage fixing during vehicle assembly, which may result in reduced clamp load, lack of full thread engagement or damage to the fastener bolt.”
The fault means the seat belt may not perform as required in the event of a collision, which could result in injury or, in a more serious collision, death.
Land Rover warns an improperly restrained passenger could also injure the passenger sitting ahead of them in the second row.
The company advises owners shouldn’t use the left-hand third-row seat until the issue has been fixed.
- A total of nine vehicles are affected.
- Affected vehicles were available for sale from 30 September 2020 to 26 October 2020.
