The 2020 Kia Carnival range starts at $42,990 before on-road costs for the S V6, topping out at $63,290 before on-roads for the Platinum diesel.

    This is the third generation of Kia’s large people mover, first introduced in Australia in 1999 as a budget alternative to the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Tarago.

    It has since leapfrogged both to become Australia’s best-selling people mover.

    Engines

    The 2020 Kia Carnival range comes with a choice of two engines, available across all four trim levels.

    You can choose between a 3.3-litre petrol V6 producing 206kW and 336Nm or a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder producing 147kW and 440Nm.

    All Carnivals use an eight-speed automatic transmission.

    Fuel Economy

    The 2020 Kia Carnival, when equipped with the standard 3.3-litre V6, consumes 10.8L/100km on the ADR combined city and highway cycle. It needs only 91RON regular unleaded fuel and can run on E10.

    The optional 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four uses 7.6L/100km on the ADR combined city and highway cycle.

    Dimensions

    The 2020 Kia Carnival measures 5115mm long, 1755mm tall (including the roof rails) and 1985mm wide.

    The Carnival’s total luggage space is 960L, increasing to 2220L with the third row stowed. With the third row stowed, the outboard second row seats folded and the centre second row seat removed, total cargo capacity is 4022L.

    Safety

    When the Kia Carnival was tested by ANCAP in 2016, it received a rating of five stars.

    That rating was based on a frontal offset score of 14.29 out of 16 and a side impact score of 16 out of 16. Whiplash and pedestrian protection were rated Good and Acceptable, respectively.

    All 2020 Kia Carnival models come standard with autonomous emergency braking with forward-collision warning.

    They also come standard with lane-departure warning, anti-lock brakes and front and front-side airbags. All three rows feature curtain airbags.

    Only the range-topping Carnival Platinum features blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

    Servicing

    The 2020 Kia Carnival requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

    Kia offers seven years of capped-price servicing in addition to its seven-year, unlimited kilometre warranty. V6 Carnivals have an average cost per service of $520 while diesel models have an average service cost of $522.
