    Engines

Audi Q2 models with 35 TFSI designation are powered by the Volkswagen Group’s 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 110kW of power (@5000-6000rpm) and 250Nm of torque (@1500-3500rpm).

Drive in these models is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Q2 35 TFSI completes the 100km/h sprint in 8.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 212km/h.

    Meanwhile, the punchier 40 TFSI quattro gets a 2.0-litre turbo four developing 140kW (@4200-6000rpm) and 320Nm (@1500-4200rpm).

The larger engine is complemented by quattro all-wheel drive, and is teamed again with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch auto.

Audi claims a hot hatch-like sprint time of 6.5 seconds from 0-100km/h and a top speed of 228km/h.

    Fuel Economy

The Audi Q2 35 TFSI uses a claimed 5.3L/100km on the combined cycle, and emits 122g/km of CO2.

For the 40 TFSI quattro, those figures are 6.5L/100km and 148g/km respectively.

    Dimensions

In terms of length, width and height, the Audi Q2 measures 4191/1794/1508mm respectively, with a wheelbase measuring 2601mm.

Front-wheel drive models have 405L/1050L of luggage capacity in five-seat and two-seat configurations respectively, while quattro models quote 355L/1000L due to the added hardware under the boot floor.

The 35 TFSI design weighs in at 1375kg (tare), while the 40 TFSI quattro sport tips the scales at 1520kg (tare).

    Servicing and Warranty

All versions of the Q2 are covered by Audi’s three-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

The company also offers upfront Service Plans which cover up to five years or 75,000 kilometres – it’s priced at $2280 for both 35 TFSI and 40 TFSI models.

    Safety

The Audi Q2 wears a 2016 stamped five-star ANCAP safety rating, based on tests conducted by Euro NCAP.

Category scores included 93 per cent for adult occupant protection, 86 per cent for child occupant protection, 70 per cent for pedestrian protection and 60 per cent for safety assist.

Dual frontal, side-chest for front occupants, and side curtain airbags for front and second row outboard positions are standard.

Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) is standard, as is a manually-set speed limiter.

The 40 TFSI picks up blind-spot monitoring as standard equipment over the 35 TFSI, though if you want features like lane assist, adaptive cruise control with stop/go, hill hold assist, auto high-beam and an active parking assistant, you need to shell out for the optional Assistance package on both grades.
