Mercedes-Benz is recalling 11 Sprinter vans as their reversing lights mightn’t work.

“The gear recognition function in the transmission may not function as intended in some vehicles,” the company says in its recall notice.

“This may cause the reversing lamp to stop working until the next ignition change, or the next engine start.

“Loss of reverse lights may reduce the visibility of the vehicle and provide no indication that the vehicle is reversing, increasing the risk of an accident leading to serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or pedestrians.”

    • A total of 11 vehicles are affected
    • Vehicles were available for sale from September 21, 2018 to January 4, 2021
    • The VIN list is attached here
    • The original recall notice is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to take it to a Mercedes-Benz dealer for a free software update.
