Subaru Australia is recalling 38,755 examples of its XV and Forester crossovers due to improperly tightened bolts.
“The rear stabiliser bracket bolts may not have been sufficiently tightened during production. In this case, the bolts may become loose over time and/or fall out during normal vehicle usage,” the company says in its recall notice.
“A dislodged bolt or a loose stabiliser bracket may impact nearby components such as the drive shaft, sub-frame, or brake pipe, causing damage and/or a failure in those components.
“This may result in an accident, causing injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
This recall notice for the 2018-19 XV is unrelated to another issued on June 2, 2021, which was for an overheating ignition coil.
- A total of 38,755 vehicles are affected
- Vehicles were available for sale from April 21, 2017 to August 24, 2020
