About the Mercedes-Benz V-Class
Dan purchased this Mercedes-Benz V-Class new with additional options for $136,000 (including all on-road costs). Dan would buy this car again because: “Yes, I would buy it again because there is no other seven/eight seater people mover on the market that compares with the luxury and refinement of the V300d. Its balance between style and practicality is the reason why I brought it.”
How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.
So far, there have been no particular issues with the car but it is only a month old! We previously owned a V250d for five years and experienced a few issues with it in the latter half of ownership so we are expecting some issues a few years down the track.
What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?
The ownership experience has been fine with the car. Customer service was poor during buying and based on previous experience, service and warranty could also be a challenge.
We were disappointed to find that simple accessories like boot liners and mud flaps were not available on this model.
How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?
The purchase of the car was a bit of a challenge because of poor responses from the sales team, limited availability, and poor trade-in offer. We have only travelled almost 4000km in the car and have not had it serviced yet so we are yet to make a judgement on the aftercare experience.
Are you happy with the price and features of your car?
The price of the car isn’t exactly cheap as such but offers a lot of kit. For being a $136k drive-away it’s a lot of cash to splash out on a family car. But with that there is a lot of nice features that make the overall ride more enjoyable. That aside, I think the main markup from other vans is because its a ‘Mercedes-Benz’.
What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?
The is the main reason for it being the V300d because of the 34kW power boost over the V250d. You can feel the difference too, it is more responsive and is better to drive.
In terms of economy it is really frugal, averaging 7.4L/100. You can get to a lot of places on a tank.
What do you think of the technology in your car?
The technology in the car is great but not perfect. It offers a lot of cool features but not as good as other Mercedes models. There is a lot of carryover from the pre-facelifted V-Class. There are a few new features such as the new touchscreen, some new buttons and some driver-assist technology.
What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?
The ride comfort is smooth and refined. It seamlessly hovers over bumps and divots in the road.
Handling is at its best in ‘Sport’ mode, the steering is heavy but engaging. But in the standard ‘Comfort’ mode, it handles well.
