About the Mazda CX-5
Ann Urch purchased this Mazda CX-5 used for $42,000 (including all on-road costs) in 2023. Ms Urch would buy this car again because: “It’s a good car, well put together and it has a very nice cabin. It has plenty of poke and it’s an easy drive. All the technology works well. Sufficient space, although for its size the rear seats lack legroom. 12-month service interval, although I don’t mind six-monthly. “
How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.
No problems to date. Yet to be serviced in our ownership, interested to see how that goes. Some minor issues in getting across all the features, the online manual has been very useful in this regard. Not looking forward to buying a new battery, the current one is a beast.
What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?
Good. The dealer looked after us and we got a good deal on our eight-year-old Sportage, which had been a good car. Easy to keep clean inside and out. Easy to get in and out, we are both in our 70″s
Are you happy with the price and features of your car?
The price was okay. Happy with the overall features of the vehicle. However, the centre vents cannot be turned off or regulated, the sun visor doesn’t cover the width of the side window, resulting in sun exposure of my right temple. Park sensors are easy to turn off when selecting the 360 view, and difficult to turn on because of the switches position. The seat warmer is a beast and you have switch to the low setting almost immediately and no wireless Carplay or charging pad.
What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?
Performance is very good, excellent brakes and there”s plenty of get-up-and-go. Handling is good for this type of vehicle. Economy is so-so, 9.5L /1 00 km is a bit disappointing. All spot-on for a family runabout
What do you think of the technology in your car?
Bluetooth telephony is excellent and the sound system likewise. Radar cruise control is good and I use it all the time. 360 is good and very useful. Automatic park brake, engine stop/start is hardly noticeable. Electric seats with memory for the driver and an auto tailgate.
Excellent instrument cluster, provides the required information clearly and easy to read.
What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?
Comfort and noise suppression is very good. An excellent highway cruiser. Vision all round is pretty good for an SUV, plus the 360 and rear cross -traffic results in an anxiety-free drive. Body control is good, without excessive lean in corners, although we don’t drive particularly fast.
