About the GWM HAVAL H6

L T purchased this GWM HAVAL H6 new with additional options for $44,990 (including all on-road costs). L T would buy this car again because: “Does what it says on the tin. Fuel economy is unreal. Does everything in a satisfactory manner excluding the cornering on active cruise control.

Comfortable around town and not terrible on the highways. Does what it needs to and is fully loaded.”

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.

I have had no issues since purchase. The Haval just works.

Have now completed 41,000km without fault. I drive it daily to work and all around south-east Queensland. The car just does what it needs to do. It doesn’t thrill and it’s not exciting.

What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?

The dealer is disorganised but rectified this by going to another that delivers outstanding service. This has nothing to do with Haval but those selling the cars.

The only irritating thing about this car is the cornering when using active cruise. There has been no fix and will brake heavily when going around slight bends.

How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?

Since changing dealers for servicing, it has been relatively easy and straightforward.

There is nothing to really complain about as the new service centre meets all needs. Reviewing where you buy your car from is incredibly important as this will detail your after care experience.

Are you happy with the price and features of your car?

For the price it is fantastic. I initially wanted a Toyota RAV4 but needed a car quickly not wanting to wait the more than 12 months for pick up.

I took a chance on the Haval and it has worked really well.

What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?

The economy is fantastic. Driving during peak hour I often see the fuel economy drop to low 4.0s. General mixed driving in mid 5.0s and highway only it will jump up to 7.0s.

It’s quick off the mark and will have tyre spin. Mostly resolved with new Bridgestone tyres.

What do you think of the technology in your car?

Would love wireless CarPlay but that’s my only need. Everything else works well and I don’t mind the aggressiveness of the lane-keep. I’m not impressed by the cruise control’s braking during cornering.

Everything else works a treat including the safety features.

What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?

It’s comfortable at low speeds and generally handles alright. It’s a bit boaty and crashes over speed bumps, taking a bit to compose itself.

It does require better under thigh support but for the most part, it is an efficient and fairly comfortable car.
