About the Ford Fiesta
John from Perth WA purchased this Ford Fiesta new for $36,000 (including all on-road costs). John wouldn’t buy this car again because I don’t do the same trick twice. (I will be keeping it).
How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.
Not enough kilometres to assess yet but so far it has been fine.
What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?
I like the honesty this car presents. And Ford Performance Vehicles kindly provided gift pack as the Ford dealer I purchased from was not part of their program.
How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?
Apart from the wait – tracked the vehicle ex Cologne and the vehicle carrier all the way to Fremantle – took three long months for delivery. Dealer was informative and communicative.
Are you happy with the price and features of your car?
The car itself gives me great satisfaction – driving it. It wants you to drive it. Only option I wish Ford Australia had spec’d would have been the high beam LED. The high beam auto dip feature works very well. FordPass connect has been seamless with my Galaxy and Android Auto. Did I mention the heated steering wheel and the windscreen electric demist – both work but you need to allow for a little viewing distortion for the couple of minutes its on for.
The Recaro pews just perfect (I have to take my wallet out of my back pocket as the seats are snug – did a 600km round trip and they felt fine. (I fitted a lower mesh screen to protect the intercooler fins from road debris).
What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?
The combination of a super quick steering ratio, Quaife mechanical LSD, torque vectoring springs, Michelin PS4S is pure delight. I have no need to change anything.
The 1.5 3 pot spins freely up to 6 and a half – so much so I have to forgive the economy which is not bad at 7l/100 for an engine still getting used to its driver.
What do you think of the technology in your car?
Love the honesty – last of the analog cars – normal instruments, manual handbrake, invites the driver in you. No frills – easy to completely turn off the touchscreen so no distractions.
Not a fan of the one cylinder deactivation – a bit unnecessary. The smarts are there when I need them. Would have liked an oil temp readout in the central instrument cluster but will probably use an OBD app for that.
At this price point and specification some nice to haves like gas struts for the bonnet would be a nice touch (I will be fitting them).
What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?
As above the ride is necessarily firm but comfortable. It allows you to communicate with the car at all times – I have mentioned handling in the comments above – there is sufficient feedback at all times and I certainly have no issue using it as a daily driver or long distance hack (its eats the k’s effortlessly).
Do you have any additional comments about your car?
Be nice if Ford Australia sanctioned a Stage 1 or 2 tune and allowed the owner to stay within warranty (several UK tunes available). Owner rating reflects a happy one.
