    About the Tesla Model 3

C Kelly purchased this Tesla Model 3 new with additional options for $72,000 (including all on-road costs), and would would buy this car again because:

“The purchase experience was all online and I didn’t have to deal with car salespeople which has been a downside of buying a new car in the past.

The handover was very efficient and professional: Reliable, low-maintenance and free fuel. My only servicing costs for this car in 5 years was a 3-year checkup when they did a general service check at my request. The tyres were rotated, cabin filter checked, wipers replaced, general health checkup at a total cost of $173 inc tax. Aside from that the only other cost has been a new set of tyres.

I also love the minimalist interior. quiet drive, clean emissions and ability to fuel up in my garage for free off excess solar. “

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.

I have never had any mechanical or electrical issues with the car. This is definitely the most reliable car I have owned in my 30-year driving history. The only issue I’ve had in the 5 years of ownership was a flat 12-volt battery.

What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?

I’m very happy with the car. It exceeds my expectations in all aspects including maintenance, driving experience and fuel cost. The only downside is the behaviour of the CEO, and a small percentage of other drivers who seem to enjoy letting me know they don’t like EVs.

How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the purchase and aftercare from Tesla. They have been very helpful and responsive to my needs and questions. I also love the over-the-air updates that give me new features or fix issues while I’m sleeping.

Are you happy with the price and features of your car?

I found the initial purchase price expensive and it’s the most I have spent on a car ever. However if I was buying now it would be more affordable. The cost savings on maintenance and fuel over the 5 years of ownership have offset the purchase price. I’m happy with all the features and can’t think of anything else I need in a car.

What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?

Though I only bought the base model this car is the fastest car I’ve owned and it is a very fun drive. The downside being other drivers that want to race you at the lights. Fuel economy is also a bonus – I mostly charge at home in my garage off free excess solar. Charging at paid chargers is still cheaper than petrol on a per km basis.

What do you think of the technology in your car?

The Tesla is a computer on wheels and they are a technology company so it’s a given the tech is high end, reliable and good quality. I get free software updates regularly and to date I have had no issues with the technology. The battery management system is excellent and so far issue free.

What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?

This is probably the only gripe I have with the car – it feels every bump on the road, and speed bumps are especially annoying. I understand this is because of the battery weight and the low centre of gravity, but I will look for air suspension in my next EV, or even consider upgrading this one.

Otherwise it’s a very pleasant drive experience- quiet, zippy and handles corners beautifully.

Do you have any additional comments about your car?

After driving this car for 5 years I’m a convert – could never go back to an internal combustion engine.
