About the Toyota Mark 2

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.
Aside from a few age issues (19 yrs) the overall reliability has been fantastic, the car feels more well made and solid than my last car (2011 VE SS-V). Toyota can still supply majority of the parts for it new
What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?
It feels really nice to have something unique that only a few people with a well-trained eye will know about, it’s been such a great car to own and drive to work every day. It just needs cruise control and I’d be over the moon happy
Are you happy with the price and features of your car?
It was priced at the lower end of JDM Toyotas with a JZ engine, and considering how rare it is (1357 built) I feel like I got a good deal. For a car of its age it’s very very well equipped
What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?
Legendary 1JZ power plant, JZX110 performance chassis from Toyota’s peak engineering time period, for a 1.5-tonne car it’s glued to the road.
Fuel economy is horrible however, 65L tank and I’m lucky to see 550kms out of it. Smiles per gallon, anyone?
What do you think of the technology in your car?
It misses out on some practicality features like cruise control, but I’m addressing that shortly. It has swing air vents, an overhead air purifier, lots of puddle lights for ambience which is nice. It has a very ahead of its time interior
What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?
It’s on coilovers so the ride can be a tad firm sometimes, but it’s not too bad for comfort, good enough for daily duties.
Its handling characteristics were definitely a surprise for a big wagon, it feels very connected with the road
Do you have any additional comments about your car?
Don’t be scared to own something different. JDM cars are an appreciating asset and it really shines through how bland the cars we get here in Australia brand new can be.
