A convicted criminal has stolen a large car carrier transporting 10 Chevrolet Corvette C8s through Arizona, claiming he needed a ride home after being released from prison.
In a post on Facebook, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office recounted how the bizarre incident unfolded.
On February 15, 2024 Isaiah Walker was released from prison and shortly made his way to a truck stop in Willcox, Arizona.
After striking a conversation with a truck driver about his load – a shipment of brand-new Chevrolet Corvettes – he reportedly “lulled him into a sense of security.”
As the driver entered his truck, Mr Walker allegedly grabbed him and “threw him from the cab”.
“The suspect then entered the vehicle, locked the door, stole the vehicle, and drove it from the parking lot,” said Cochise County Sheriffs Office in a statement online.
“The stolen vehicle, a car hauling semi, was transporting 10 Chevrolet Corvette C8s with an estimated value above $1,250,000 and left the area travelling North on Fort Grant Road.”
According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy located unsuccessfully attempted to stop the stolen truck.
Mr Walker allegedly began driving recklessly, causing other motorists to leave the road, before eventually stopping the truck.

He was taken into custody by a deputy and a Willcox Police Officer. Mr Walker reportedly admitted to stealing the car hauler and clarified he didn’t steal it for the Corvettes, but rather that he needed a lift home after being released from prison.
He was charged with multiple felony charges including Robbery, 11 counts of Theft of Means of Transportation, and Felony Theft.
“I am extremely proud of the officer and deputy involved in this investigation,” said Chief Hadfield in a statement.
“The deputy and officer showed great restraint and patience in bringing a serious crime to a peaceful resolution, all while keeping the property of others from being damaged.
“The stolen vehicle was safely recovered without damage and was released to the driver so he could continue his delivery. Again, I thank the officer and deputy who were involved in this investigation for keeping our citizens safe.”
