Zeekr, an all-electric brand under the umbrella of Chinese giant Geely, appears to be setting up shop in Australia.
The company has posted a range of jobs on LinkedIn that are all based in Sydney, New South Wales. These include roles for a marketing manager, aftersales manager, and sales manager.
At this stage it’s unclear if Zeekr is actually planning on selling cars in Australia. The company hasn’t publicly confirmed this just yet, though 12 months ago it said it planned on launching in Europe and the US.
If Zeekr does actually end up selling vehicles in Australia it will join Volvo, Polestar and Lotus as another Geely-owned brand with a local presence.
Geely has also previously confirmed Lynk & Co, which is yet another one of its brands, is meant to be launching in Australia by 2025. It’s unclear if this is still the case as this was detailed back in 2021.
Zeekr was founded in 2021 as an all-electric brand to rivals the likes of Tesla and Nio. All of its electric vehicles (EVs) are built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform.
The company’s first vehicle, the Zeekr 001 electric fastback, was first revealed in 2020 as a Lynk & Co concept. It was later revealed in production form as a Zeekr vehicle during 2021.
The high-performance Zeekr 001 FR was recently revealed as Geely’s most powerful mass-produced model yet. It’s powered by a rear-biased quad-electric motor setup with system outputs of 930kW of power and 1280Nm of torque.
Other vehicles in Zeekr’s line-up include the X electric crossover, 009 electric people mover, and 007 electric sedan.
Zeekr isn’t the only all-electric Chinese carmaker that appears to be looking to begin exporting cars to Australia. Others include Nio and HiPhi.
