Due to a manufacturing problem with the front seat-backs, Toyota Australia is recalling approximately 5400 current-generation Kluger SUVs.
Toyota Australia is recalling approximately 5400 examples of its Kluger large SUV to fix a problem with the front seat-back frames.
This recall affects current, fourth-generation Kluger models produced from March 4 to June 16, 2021.
“Involved vehicles are fitted with front seats which are constructed with a certain seat-back frame,” said the company in its recall notice.
“Due to the wearing of the manufacturing tool used to form the shape of the seat-frames and insufficient inspection instructions, certain specific points on the seat-back frames were not manufactured with the minimum radius criteria.”
“As a result, these seat-back frames do not comply with ECE UNR17.”
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to book in a time at a Toyota dealer to have the driver and front-passenger seat-back frames modified free of charge.
Toyota expects the job will take approximately two hours, but this depends on the dealer’s work schedule.
If you have any further questions, you can contact the Toyota Recall Campaign Helpline during weekdays from 8AM to 6PM AEST on 1800 987 366.
