Toyota HiLux recalled

Toyota Australia is recalling 1365 examples of its HiLux ute due to improper calibration of the front passenger airbag.

This recall only affects HiLux WorkMate and SR cab-chassis examples produced between late August 2021 and late October 2021.

“In the airbag system of involved vehicles, due to an improper setting of the production equipment, there is a possibility that the occupant classification system may not be calibrated,” said the company in its recall notice.

“In this condition, the front passenger airbag may not deploy in a collision.”

• The recall affects vehicles produced between late August 2021 and late October 2021

Toyota is contacting owners of all affected vehicles.

If you own one of the affected vehicles, you’ll need to contact a Toyota dealer to arrange a free inspection and recalibration.

Toyota expects this job will take around 30 minutes to complete, but this depends on the dealer’s work schedule.
