A TikTok influencer has discovered technology in a new car that prevents it from rolling away when it’s left unattended and he captured it in action on a TikTok video.
Paul Maric, a TikTok automotive influencer that posts videos on new cars and car technology, published a video on TikTok through his handle @paulmaric that shows how this technology could potentially save you one day.

“This is the new Ford Ranger. If you turn it off while it’s still in Drive, watch what happens to the gear stick,” Paul says in the TikTok video.
“It shifts itself back into Park automatically. That is seriously cool,” Paul says.
“It prevents the car zooming off on its own if you forget to put it in Park,” Maric says.
The technology is designed to prevent situations where an owner will get out of a vehicle while it’s still in Drive, forgetting to put the vehicle in Park.
This electronic mechanism automatically moves the lever back into Park to ensure the vehicle doesn’t roll away and potentially injure somebody.
TikTok users were blown away by the technology, leaving comments on the video which has over 2 million views and 140,000 likes.
“Wow!” said one TikTok user.
“You learn something new every day,” said another TikTok user.
“This should be standard on all new cars today…it’s too easy to forget to put the car into park,” another TikTok user commented.
But, not everybody was complementary in the TikTok video comments.
“How long will the motor last before needs a rebuild,” a TikTok user said.
“My ten year old bmw puts itself into park. I hope Ford don’t think they did a thing there,” another said.
Regardless it seems this new technology really should be offered in all new cars today.
