If one Suzuki Jimny isn’t good enough for you, why not try merging it with a Vitara to create a Hummer H1 lookalike? Oh, and while you’re at it, slam it to the ground.
That’s just what a group of students did with this crazy custom revealed at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon.
The so-called NATS Jimny J1 was created and presented by students from the NATS Japan Automobile College.
They took a JA11-generation Suzuki Jimny and added pieces of the frame and 2.5-litre V6 engine from a first-generation Vitara (called the Escudo in the Japanese market).
It has massive 20-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped in chunky Toyo tyres, along with air suspension in order to get the vehicle height as low as possible. There’s also a large roof rack on top with two bikes mounted on it.
The NATS Japan Automobile College won the Excellence Award (SUV category) at the Tokyo International Custom Car Contest held at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon.
