The Tesla Model 3 has reached a new height when it comes to electric range, with a new marathon-ready variant launching in the UK.
The new Model 3 Long Range rear-wheel drive (RWD) has landed in the UK with a claimed WLTP driving range of 702km, more than any other variant of the best-selling electric sedan.
Only examples shod with 18-inch wheels crack the 700km range barrier, with the fitment of 19-inch wheels reducing its driving range to 641km – still greater than Long Range all-wheel drive (AWD), which can go 628km on a single charge.
For context, the new Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor boasts 706km of range, while the BYD Seal and Hyundai Ioniq 6 both claim below 660km of range.

It’s not yet clear if Australia will also get the single-motor Long Range, though given we also receive the Model 3 from Shanghai – where it’s built for right-hand drive markets – it’s possible it could come here.
Tesla’s Australian Model 3 lineup currently consists of the standard RWD, Long Range AWD and flagship Performance AWD.
In the UK, the Model 3 Long Range RWD starts at £44,990 (A$87,320), 12.5 per cent more than the base RWD and 10 per cent less than the Long Range AWD.
Based on current Australian pricing, that could see the Long Range RWD arrive with a price tag in the low-$60,000 range, if it was to come here.
In addition to a range boost, the 2025 Model 3 packs all the fresh kit introduced with the ‘Highland’ facelift, which arrived in Australia late last year.
