Skoda debuts used-car capped-price servicing

Skoda will allow used-carowners to lock in service costs for four years, launching capped-price servicing for vehicles more than 12 months old.

Owners of Skoda cars that have passed their first service will be able to buy a four-year/60,000km fixed-price service pack, with prices ranging from $1200 for the compact Fabia hatchback to $1600 for the Kodiaq seven-seat SUV.

The packages save a claimed 30 per cent compared to regular service prices. They’re transferrable between owners, so if the car is sold the new owner will still benefit from the package.

Skoda also allows new car buyers to purchase a three- or five-year service package during the first 12 months of ownership, or before the first 15,000km service.

According to the company, almost 60 per cent of new car buyers opt for a service package.

“In our biggest new product year since entering the Australian market in 2007, this latest cost of ownership innovation is another Skoda measure intended to make European motoring affordable to more people,” said Michael Irmer, Skoda Australia managing director.

Prices for the four-year service plans are as follows:

• Fabia: $1200
• Rapid: $1200
• Yeti: $1300
• Octavia: $1300
• Karoq: $1300
• Superb: $1600
• Kodiaq: $1600

Pre-paid service plans have become a popular option for new car buyers.

They allow you to lock in your costs upfront, and are generally cheaper than paying as you go.
