The venerable Renault Koleos SUV will stay remain on sale in the Australian market right through 2025.
Speaking with CarExpert at the launch of the updated Arkana crossover coupe, general manager for Renault Australia Glen Sealey said the current Koleos still “absolutely” has some life in it yet.
“[It will] continue into next year,” Mr Sealey said. “If you’d like to order one today, we can sort you out,” he chuckled.

Asked more directly about its replacement, Mr Sealey indicated a “different vehicle” will slot into that medium-large SUV segment “maybe in 2026”, though he noted “we’re yet to see” what it’ll actually be.
While Renault has two potential successors globally in the new X-Trail-based Espace for Europe and the Geely-sourced Grand Koleos for the Korean market, both options are currently limited to left-hand drive.
Still, Mr Sealey argues the current Koleos – which dates back to 2016 – has something to offer in today’s market.
“The existing car is a good, honest vehicle. It’s priced pretty well in the segment, and we still think there’s more legs in that particularly given we’re in a value market today – not a booming market.”
The second-generation Renault Koleos launched globally in 2016, and is based on the Renault-Nissan CMF-CD underpinnings of the previous-generation Nissan X-Trail and Qashqai. Unlike the brand’s other models, it’s produced in South Korea as part of a Renault-Samsung tie-up.
It has been replaced by the new Espace in the European market, which sits above the European Austral in the same way the X-Trail sits above the Qashqai. Currently, it’s left-hand drive only and is not even sold in the UK.
Pricing starts from $37,500 before on-road costs for the entry-level Koleos Life 4×2, and tops out at $48,500 plus on-roads for the flagship Intens 4×4.
Unlike the wider Renault lineup in Australia, which is backed by a five-year warranty, the Koleos range is subject to a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty as of July 1, 2024.
Despite its advancing age, the Renault Koleos is the brand’s best-selling passenger vehicle in Australia.
So far in 2024 (to July 31), a total of 694 new units have been registered year to date, ahead of the smaller Arkana (275 units) and Captur (141 units). However, the Koleos is down a significant 68.8 per cent thus far in 2024.
It’s also starting to trail behind Renault’s commercial van range, led by the Master (1121 units YTD) and Traffic (883 units YTD).
