ACT Policing is on the hunt for a male who was wearing a banana costume when he injured a bystander with the Ford Falcon he was allegedly hooning around in.
Police officers were called to the border suburb of Beard just after 9pm on June 21, following reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a wheel which came off a vehicle that had been performing burnouts.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found the graffitied AU Falcon unattended, with its driver understood to have fled.
The male driver was alleged to have been wearing a banana costume and a balaclava while performing burnouts in the clapped-out Falcon.
The 21-year old male bystander was treated on scene and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have mobile phone footage of the incident, to help with its investigation.
